Gregor Samsa, a traveling salesman, woke up one day and discovers himself as a giant insect. He struggles and tries to adapt his new physiques in the existing human world.
I was looking for a light read in my shelf and because of the page count I thought this one will work. But, obviously I was wrong because it may be short but it is way deeper/heavy novella than I thought it would be.
Before picking it up I didn't knew it's genre and while I was reading, it just didn't really made any sense to me. I was like, bro your body literally changed into some creature and your first concern is how you'll catch your train? what excuse you'll give to your boss? Seriously?
And then I googled what genre this book falls in and it was ABSURD, so, okay I got. This book really left me confused. It is a simple story but everything mentioned in it symbolizes something or anything and that makes this book so profound. Like, his first concerns I mentioned above is a metaphor for the societal pressure.
The way Kafka has written this book with so
absurdity and surreality is mind-boggling. I think I might read it again.
Not many will like this book 'cause it's kinda melancholic but it's worth a try. Do give it a read and if you've already read it or will soon then please feel free to dm me.
